Bollywood3000 New Delhi: Move over Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, gen next celebrities are here to rock the ad world. Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Genelia D'Souza and Sharman Joshi are in high demand as brands feel they speak the language of the youth.

Deepika, 24, is endorsing brands like BSNL - which earlier had Preity as its face - Sony cameras and Fiama D'Willis.

"Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na" star Genelia, 22, has not only replaced Rani Mukerji in the Fanta and Vatika hair oil ads, she has also taken the Cadbury Perk ad from Preity.

"Younger celebrities are building a big fan following of their own. So it's natural that brands talking to the same young fans prefer to rope in younger celebrities," Shivanand 'Doc' Mohanty, national creative director of Dentsu Communications, told IANS.

Imran Khan has become the face of soft drink giant Coca-Cola. Though his uncle Aamir Khan remains its star endorser, Imran was roped in to give a younger feel.

Pepsi that embodies the most prevalent youth sentiment has dropped 40-plus Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and brought in the much younger Ranbir Kapoor for their new set of ads.

Actor Sharman Joshi has become the new face of big brands like Nokia and Airtel and Sonam Kapoor has long taken over L'oreal from Aishwarya Rai.

Katrina is not far behind. If on one hand she has stamped a deal with jewellery brand Nakshatra, earlier endorsed by Aishwarya, on the other she has taken over Pantene from Sushmita Sen.

Ad filmmaker and director Abhinay Deo says new faces make experimenting cheaper.

"Experimenting is obviously going to be cheaper when a client experiments with a new brand ambassador who is a fresh face...it's a circle of life, newer people are welcomed by the market. Plus they are in terms of a price tag much better than paying a whole sum of money," Deo was quoted as saying.

Sai Nagesh, chief operating officer, Dentsu Media, told IANS that more commitment and less money from new faces play an important role.

"Lower fee is a reason. Plus the fact that younger celebrities are more organised, stand by their commitments and are definitely more professional," said Nagesh.

He also revealed that today there is a major shift in the impact that celebrity endorsements have on young Indians.

"Earlier, the celebrity was to bring in credibility, trust and realism. Today, the consumer is not willing to believe anyone other than himself. And hence the role has now been reduced to just bringing in glamour and noticeability," he said.

Often called the most beautiful person in the world, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan plays an old woman in some portions of Vipul Shah’s forthcoming movie Action Replayy. Even in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, she will be seen without any trace of make-up. Speaking about her no make-up look, Aishwarya says, “It (the no make-up look) is because of the kind of projects that I have taken up. For me, I have always looked at playing a character that moves me and thankfully I got the opportunity from film-makers who have felt that I am capable of doing those roles.”

Deepika Padukone, it seems, will not apply any make-up in one of her forthcoming films — Ashutosh Gowariker’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se. She will also wear traditional Bengali sarees for the period drama, which is based on the real life story of legendary freedom fighter Surya Sen who led the Chittagong uprising. “It’s a period film about India’s fight for independence. It’s a huge challenge to come in front of the audience without any make-up. However, I am confident that the audience will like my performance. As Indian society sheds its conservative garb to don a modern, new age avtar, the Bollywood actress is too undergoing a makeover.

Today she is no longer the shy, don’t touch me kind of woman who does not let go of any opportunity to shed the tears.

Now she is bold, brazen, independent and is not afraid to live life on her own terms. Deepika Padukone in the film’ Love Aj Kal’plays the role of a modern woman who has an affair with Saif Ali Khan and breaks up with him when work takes her to India and Saif has to stay back.

The break-up, unlike in other films was not a sad affair.Instead, they threw a party and celebrated their break-up.

She gets married to her boss in the later part of the film after dating him for one year, only to realize that her heart aches for Saif only.

In the film’Fashion’Priyanka Chopra, played the role of a sexy model who lives in with her boyfriend and is aggressive about her work. She even falls in love with a much married man in the later part of the film and even gets pregnant. She gets the baby aborted when she realizes that her work might get suffered if she decides to have the baby.

Later on she comes face to face with her first boyfriend only to realize that he has moved on and it is time for her to move on too.

She once again gets back to her life by walking at a ramp show and the film does not end in a conventional manner, showing her all happy by getting engaged to a man.

Instead, it shows her going to a foreign land all alone and confidently declaring that she has taken full advantage of the second chance that life has given her.

In Dostana, the heroine lives in without two men pretending to be gay and later walks off with a man whose wife had left him.

She is shown wearing modern dresses, partying at night, managing her career as well as taking time to get to know her boyfriend’s son previous marriage.

In the recent film’Ishqia’the lead character played by Vidya Balan is the story of a woman who lives in a village and wears only Indian clothes. She is shown displaying her boldness not through her clothes, but through her actions. She flirts with two men and enjoys it at the same time.

She is not afraid of taking revenge when she realizes that her husband wanted to kill her and later walks away with one of the men with whom she was flirting.

Even in the film Hum Tum, the lead characters have a one night stand. While Rani was showing being unapologetic about it, Saif, in a somewhat opposite manner was suffering from guilty pangs.

All these films show the typical Indian actress in a very different way and in a realistic manner. We see no purpose for complaining and are looking forward to watch modern portrayal  of Indian women.

Deepika Padukone: The junior high concentration!

It was her scintillating performance at the opening ceremony  of the IPL that sent many a hearts racing faster, on the 12th of March 2010. Yet, Deepika was as cool as a cucumber, when she finally made an exit from the ground to get into the stands.

However, she was very soon spotted along side one of India’s biggest industriaslit Vijay Malya’s son Siddharth Mallya.Sources revealed, that the two some got very chirpy and friendly as they moved into the lounge area.

The match was soon a forgotten issue between the two. The first half of the match took a back seat, as the two were lost in eager conversation. After some time they left the venue together, to plan a great evening ahead.

As the two some looked great together, many twittering birds on the venue wondered, if a new relationship was on the cards for the two hot shot big wigs? Well, after having parted ways with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika was a free bird.

But, as news about Ranbir wanting Deepika back into his life were in hot topic conversations, we wonder what Ranbir will have to say, to this junior high connection which Deepika has suddenly encountered?

Nana Patekar Upsets From Deepika padukone

Nana Patekar is in the news again for all the wrong reasons. It is reported that he got upset with Deepika Padukone when she suggested a few changes to his script.

Nana’s association with Deepika happened on the sets of Raajneeti, where she was waiting to meet Ranbir Kapoor, her then boyfriend. When Nana told her that he has a script for her, she told him that she would love to meet him when he is ready.

The story goes that Nana recently approached her with the script, which he is planning to direct for Prakash Jha. However, he lost his cool when she suggested some changes to the script.

He gave her a piece of his mind for it. She chose to keep silent but he stormed out, as he just couldn’t take a relatively newcomer suggesting changes to his script.

Sources said that Deepika turned Nana’s offer, as she just couldn’t connect with the script. It added that the actress is not aware that the veteran actor was upset. She is said to be adamant not to do roles that she doesn’t want.

However, it is not sure if the actors really had fallout during the talk, as neither of them has leaked it to the media.
