Shahrukh Khan said that he would have apologised to the Shiv Sena if it was for the content of his film, as he had done so before because his aim is to entertain people and not to offend them. However, he chose not to apologise this time around, as the issue was about the person he is and his Indianness.
It maybe recalled that political outfits, particularly the Shiv Sena, threatened to ban the release of My Name is Khan if Shahrukh didn't apologise for his comment on the inclusion of Pakistan cricketers in the IPL. However, they finally allowed peaceful release of the film.
