The two were seated next to each other, and while most would’ve expected their conversation to revolve around filmi baatein, Amrita however steered it towards politics.

Having a heart-to-heart chat with the politico, she could almost be mistaken for a journalist, with a barrage of questions she had about the state of affairs in the city. From the water problems to traffic congestion, the two discussed just about everything.

Convinced with Deshmukh’s vision of making the city into a world city like Singapore, the petite actress even shared her inputs as a citizen. Impressed, Deshmukh even suggested that Amrita consider joining politics at some point. Now, the hottie giving up Bollywood for ‘Poli’wood seems unlikely. If you’ve seen this debutant actress in person, you’ll wonder why she ever needs to be concerned about her fitness. With an hourglass figure, Preeta is as fit as she can be. Yet, pretty Preeta, Bollywood actress Amrita Rao’s sister, insists on calling fitness her ‘morning mantra’ these days.

The beauty seems to have taken her fitness regime seriously after her co-star Arya shared some fitness secrets with her . “Arya has a great physique! While working on Chikku Bukku, he was kind enough to lend some serious fitness tips to me,” she reveals.

Apparently, the good-looking Kollywood hunk — whose female fans seem to be increasing by the day — took personal interest in Preetika and charted out a diet and a workout regime for his latest leading lady. “Arya would ask me every time on the sets about whether I had hit the gym! And during lunch and dinner breaks, he would give special instructions to the cook on how to serve me the right platter!” reveals Preeta.

I first met Shriya in Karaikudi on the sets of the movie. It was Arya who introduced me to her and the first thing she said to me was that I have a lovely voice and that she finds me very beautiful!

Such words of praise and appreciation, coming from someone I consider a consummate actress and a perfect beauty, was overwhelming! We ended up spending two hours at dinner, discovering that we can almost see each other’s homes in Mumbai from our balconies. We spoke about everything under the sun — right from meditation techniques to workouts and diets”.

The film, which also has Shriya Saran as Arya’s leading actress, seems to be creating a bit of confusion about the Preetika’s role in it. Ask her about it and she playfully replies, “Well, Arya’s just got lucky this time with two leading ladies!”

About why she was not in London for the film’s latest song shoot, she states, “I don’t feature in that particular song. In a way, I’m glad I was not part of the song because that would mean I would have been stranded in London like my co-stars! Amrita Rao-Vivek Oberoi: Mr and Miss Bombay Times Fresh Face 2010!

Action was happening at KC College on Monday evening, as Mumbai collegians competed keenly for the coveted title of Mr and Miss Bombay Times Fresh Face.

The grand finale befitted the event that kickstarted in January when Fresh Face fever caught on in city colleges and the contestants’ progress was closely registering a vote count of 25 lakhs! Monday saw the contest to a stunning end with two college hotties walking away with the title of Mr and Miss Bombay Times Fresh Face and four others being declared the runners-up in each category respectively.

There was fun, glam and non-stop excitement as round after round the contestants, looking gorgeous in Nishka Lulla and Troy Costa’s designer wear, wowed the judges and the audiences with their walk-n-talk and thrilling performances.

Judges, Bollywood stars Vivek Oberoi and Amrita Rao, were an absolute hit with the audience as was film director Imtiaz Ali. The show, choreographed by Marc Robinson, also had DJ Akbar and emcee Harsh, and was hugely entertaining.

The contestants had full support from their college friends and amidst the din and cacophony of whistles drums, and trumpets, the winners were crowned by Amrita, Vivek and Imtiaz. Aanam Chashmawala of MMK College danced and charmed her way to win the Miss Bombay Times Fresh Face 2010, while Tanuj Parakh’s (Jai Hind) mimicry of Johnny Depp, Irrfan Khan and Batman’s Joker saw him make it to the top as Mr Bombay Times Fresh Face 2010.

Crowd fave Avinash Tewari (MMK) beat-boxed his way to become the first runner-up, while Arshima Thapar’s yoga saw her declared as the first runner-up too. Arzan Antia (Jai Hind) and Susan Vaidyan (St Xavier’s) impressed all with their vocal talent to walk away as the second runners-up.

Amidst excited high-fives, tears and joyous hugs, the winners walked the ramp with the Bollywood stars and as Amrita and Vivek pointed out: “These kids are the real stars!” And what did these ‘fresh stars’ have to say? “Watch out Mumbai, here we come!” they called out in unison.

Amrita Rao: Win "Vocational Excellence Award" by the Rotary Club

A keen Rotarian ever in the pursuit of noble causes, Amrita Rao has been awarded the Vocational Excellence Award by the Rotary Club of Bombay Sea Coast in recognition of her achievements. Her proud father, Deepak Rao, was on hand to present the award to his socially conscious daughter.

Meanwhile, Amrita pursued her other career by walking the ramp for the Fiamma di Wills Narcotic Love…Elemental Strength collection at the Wills Lifestyle Indi Fashion Week in New Delhi on Tuesday.

“Today I’m very happy that I’ve come here through Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and Fiama Di Wills which is a close associate and I’ve introduced two designers,” she said.

When questioned about her own style icon, Amrita praised fellow actress Sushmita Sen. "According to me the most stylish person in Bollywood is none other than Sushmita Sen,” she confirmed, “I have grown up in awe of her since I was in school.

I closely interacted with her during the making of Main Hoon Na where I realised that apart from her outer personality, fashion element and her dress sense, she has this wonderful inner personality and confidence and for me it is her innate charm that makes her the style icon she is.”

Bollywood Actress Amrita Rao walks the ramp for Namrata

Leading designers Namrata Joshipuria and G. Pia Flemings showcased their exclusive collection for Fiama Di Wills, the associate sponsor of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010 is set to showcase the grand collection, and 75 designers are participating in the much awaited event starting from March 24.

Mumbai-based designer Namrata Joshipuria showcased her collection titled 'Narcotic love… Elemental Strength'.

The collection explored many of the theme designs, which are Namrata''s signature like embellishments, unique use of colour and the contemporary shades.

“The collection as you know is titled Narcotic love… Elemental Strength. So the collection is basically about a woman who is addicted to love. Narcotic is an addiction but she gets her strength so it''s a sensual and a strong collection," said Joshipuria.

Bollywood actress Amrita Rao walked the ramp for Namrata.

"Today I'm very happy that I've come here through Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and Fiama Di Wills which is a close associate and I''ve introduced two designers," said Rao.

The other designer who showcased her collection was G. Pia Flemings and it was titled Red Carpet Collection.

The collection was inspired by the Italian Opera.

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is one of the major business-to-business fashion fete.

The fashion week would provide a stage to 19 new designers to showcase their talent and make a place for themselves in the glamorous industry.

She has completely revamped her looks and broken out of her shy and coy image, but for actress Amrita Rao, her Main Hoon Na co-star Sushmita Sen is the ultimate style icon and someone she has grown up in awe of.

 "According to me the most stylish person in Bollywood is none other than Sushmita Sen. I have grown up in awe of her since I was in school," Amrita said.

The actress was in the capital to introduce the names of two designers - Namrata Joshipura and G. Pia Fleming - who will be showcasing an exclusive collection for Fiama Di Wills at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, starting March 24.

The actress sashayed down the ramp, first wearing a black and beige balloon dress designed by Fleming and then a purple short dress by Joshipura.

When asked about her personal style statement, Amrita said: "I like to customize fashion. A lot of times we see things on others and feel that it will look good on us too, but that's not the case always because each one of us has a different structure and different complexion so its very important to customise. Also fashion trends keep changing so its very important to be comfortable in what you wear."

Amrita was last seen in Short Kut: The Con Is On and is now taking her time before she takes up anything else.

"I am interacting with some filmmakers and am going through some very interesting scripts. For me its important that I do some striking work right now. I have done a variety of roles and I want to go a step further. I want to be careful with what I take up now," she said.

Amrita Rao: Reschedules to do a cameo for Milap Zaveri's next

Amrita Rao, who made last minute changes in her schedule to do a cameo in her friend Milap Zaveri’s forthcoming Jaane Kahaan Se Aayi Hai, has been presented with a custom-made gift by the director for going out of her way to help the movie.

A source close to the development says, “Floored by Amrita Rao’s dedication and professional attitude, Milap Zaveri made a sweet gesture by gifting her custom-made jewellery that Amrita wore during the shooting of the guest appearance.

In fact Amrita looked into the final styling and edit as she didn’t want anything to go haywire for her good friend as she is quite a stickler herself.”

Amrita confirms, “It has been a pleasure working with Milap. I have been part of his writing debut and now I’m part of his directorial debut. We know each other since Masti days.”

Meanwhile, sources claim producer Nikhil Advani and Milap took almost 6 months to convince Amrita to do the special appearance.

“Milap who has worked with Amrita previously was quite keen to have her participate in this movie in some way as he considers her to be part of his filmy family.

Apparently Amrita was offered a meatier role but due to other film commitments she couldn’t allot time, but she readily agreed to do a special appearance without charging a penny,” adds the informer.

The source adds, “Amrita shot non-stop for 24 hours for Milap and the movie’s lead star Jacqueline Fernandes gave her company till her shot was over. In fact

Have your expectations of the Budget been met?

As far as my industry is concerned, no. However, the hike in TDS exemption and the subsequent increase in disposable incomes will only bring relief to the common man and the growing working classes in India.

Any particular concern?

As directors and filmmakers, we are always looking for ways to bring down production costs. However, there is nothing in the Budget to aid this. Also, I believe that a service tax has been levied on assigning the copyrights of the film, music or any other IPR, which will be an added expense.

How has the Budget affected you personally?

Any Budget should look at overall growth of the country. In that respect, this year's Budget is extremely positive and optimistic. Overall, it's been an impactful Budget, one that looks at growth of the nation.

Confirms Amrita, “I’m finally done with the shoot of L’Officiel’s power issue. I had a wonderful time shooting for such an esteemed magazine. I’m back on my way to Filmcity but stuck in the traffic.”

Amrita Rao sack her maid!

A source close to Amrita says, “That maid was either Amrita’s fan or blinded in pursuit of achieving material things.

Actually, Amrita had appointed her for assisting her mother at home. Whatever, her actions in Amrita’s absence weren’t justified.”

Apparently Amrita was out that day but returned much earlier than expected. She could not believe her eyes when she saw her maid dressed in one of her outfits. She was fired on the spot. “She begged to stay but Amrita said she could not have her services anymore,” added our source.

When contacted, Amrita said, “It was quite hilarious and scary at the same time. I had hired additional domestic help for my mother since the existing servants are generally tied down doing things for me. Now I am going to be a little more careful.”

For some reason Amrita went on to say that, “This maid was quite awed by me. Being a small town girl, she thought by wearing my clothes and accessories she could be an actress and boast about it in her village. I guess everybody dreams about being an actress but only few make it. Now my mother will be assisted by my personal caretakers who have been with me for years.”

Recently Amrita hired the services of a new maid, Rani who apparently was a crazy fan. Amrita already has two maids, a spot boy, a personal assistant and a driver at her ready disposal but hired the services of an additional maid for her mother who requires help frequently with the household work as the other employees are busy tending to Amrita's needs.

This maid apparently was an avid follower of hers from Rajasthan who had come via the reference of a neighboring building's resident. She used to intently watch each and every move of Amrita's whilst she was at home which caused a lot of unrest to Amrita as her mother's needs seemed to be sidelined. Infact once Amrita's family member caught her looking into Amrita's personal wardrobe and trying on few of her garments when no one was at home. At one instance Amrita who really loses her cool was seen getting angry but her heart melted when the maid began crying and stating how poor she was.
