We liked Hera Pheri, didn’t we? Especially we liked Akshay Kumar in it, because it was his first foray into the Comedy movies, and he rocked the country with his comic timing. A man, who is known to be the original macho man and Khiladi of Bollywood, portrayed the character of Raju, a loser, in Hera Pheri. And we adored him.
Now Akki has said in a statement that he loves to play a loser or underdog in a movie, because he thinks that we are like those characters in real life. He was doing a promotion for is upcoming movie ‘Housefull’, in which he allegedly plays a loser. He said that we might show off for an instant that we are hero, but deep down, there is a loser in everyone.
“When it comes to playing a loser, I enjoy it more than any macho role I have had to play. Is it difficult? Oh certainly yes. But then talking about real life, we are all duffers underneath anyways,” Akshay said in an interview.
He also revealed that he has played a macho man in plenty of movies, but he loves to play the character of a loser, because these are the characters with which the audiences actually relate.
“We may put on some cool macho act to woo the ladies and be the dude of the room. However, all us men would be losers if we were left to our own devices. That’s the reason why I love to play the underdog.” He added.
He stated that he is pretty different from other actors, because he loves to play an average man on screen, where as others often avoid them.
“Not many men would like to be ugly and unfortunate loser. In fact why just off the screen, even on the screen while enacting the character, they would avoid doing that. But then to me, there is nothing more real than playing an average Joe,” he says.
