Shahid Kapoor: The 'Paathshala' Helpage.

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has indeed been a part of a very generous work in the field of educating the under privileged children.Recently, after the shooting of his film ‘Paathshala’ with actress Ayesha Takia which is produced by Ahmed Khan and directed by Milind Ukey Shahid took an active part in distributing all the items that were there on the sets relating to a school.

There were uniforms, bags, tables, benches and what have you. All these things were distributed to the kid’s schools in and around the area that needed these things for basic infrastructure to give proper education.

Ahmed Khan the producer even got many more benches and tables made for distribution. It was indeed a very kind gesture.Shahid and Ayesha have been seen together in films like ‘Dil Mange More’ and ‘Fool N final’. This movie is on issues about children’s education. The film stars Nana Patekar also who leaves no stones unturned for his performances.
Shahid is getting great reviews for his ‘Dance Pe Chance’ dance number as he looks dashing. So his next release would see him in a simpler but sweet look.

Priyanka Chopra: Favourite Lady for Don 2

If this years been lucky for any one, then it has got to be Piggy Chops. This actress has had it all good in the year gone by. As if being the most popular face for endorsements wasn’t enough this lass managed to take the cake and eat it too. She beat Aishwarya Rai in the advertising world and even the in the hits she starred in have been her best performances.

Her yet to be released Pyar Impossible will see her in fashionable attire as always and her pay packet is growing fatter by the minute.The latest news is that she has already been finalized by the director Farhan Ahktar recently to play the leading lady in Don 2.

It is also being whispered that first the director was considering Deepika Padukone for the role, as while working with her in ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ the director was quite impressed with her. But at the request of ShahRukh Khan it was Priyanka who bagged the role.

Now from being the endorsement queen of the year to the ‘Junglee Billy’ (that’s what she was called fondly in Don by ShahRukh Khan who was the Don in the film) role in Don 2 Priyanka surely has her hands full for the coming year too.

Bipasha Basu performs at New Year's Eve bash

Bollywood star Bipasha Basu enthralled the audience with her dance performance at the Sahara Star hotel here on New Year's Eve.

She took the stage twice, grooving to a vibrant mix of foot tapping numbers.

During her first appearance she made the audience jig to title songs of her films Race and Bachna Ae Haseeno.

The second time she took the stage 10 minutes before midnight and charged up the atmosphere by performing to a medley of hit songs.

Actress Anjana Sukhani who acted in the movie Golmaal Returns was the other attraction of the night.

She performed to a couple of popular tracks from her films along with Marjawa, a famous song from the movie Fashion.

Singer Sudesh Bhosle regaled the crowd with his songs and mimicry with Preety Pinki. The Indipop duo belted out some of their major hits.

By the time DJ Amann took the consol, the mood was already set so he just pepped up the night by churning out some hit numbers.

Katrina Kaif - Prolonged Holiday?

Actress Katrina Kaif has reportedly gone for a holiday to London to be with her family after her Appendix Operation in Mumbai.

According to a lot of scribes she was enjoying herself in New York with Ranbir Kapoor, but all these were shaken off.

As mere rumours by the actress as she confirmed with some insiders that actually it had kind of become.

A joke in her family in London where many were calling and asking about the actress’ whereabouts.

So, it is said that one of her sisters jokingly told some caller that yes Kats was indeed in New York.

This had got the gossip mills running. Now all that is gone and there is a report that after ‘Rajneeti’ kats has not got any offers in her kitty.

It is also being reported that she would have bagged the role opposite Akshay in ‘Tees Maar Khan’.

But as Akshay wanted a new face opposite him it was Sonam Kapoor who bagged the role.

So, it is being speculated that this might make Katrina stay back a little longer in London thus making it a long holiday for the sexy lass. Well, as long as her films keep releasing no one minds, at least that way she remains in the public eye.

Happy Birthday Vidya Balan

It’s the start of a new year - a new decade according to many - and it’s also the birthday of the beautiful and elegant Vidya Balan - thirty-one years old today.

Kerala-born Vidya made a stunning debut in Parineeta and has since impressed in movies such.

As Lage Raho Munnabhai, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Guru, Kismat Konnection and most recently with the Bachchans in Paa.

How has Vidya been preparing for her birthday? “Spending a lot of quiet time, quality time with loved ones and focussing.

On the new year with renewed energy and positive thinking,” she says, “I’m thrilled at the response I got for Paa. It feels good and I’m raring to go at 2010.”

Vidya is looking forward to the release of Ishqiya in which she takes on a more brazen country-girl image.

The film also stars Naseruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi and has already raised expectations after a few run-ins with the censor.

Vidya is full of praise for her co-star Arshad in the movie. "Arshad is a brilliant actor,” she states, “I feel he is underutilised in our cinema. He is wonderful and I share a great camaraderie with him. He is really yet to get his due." In addition, she will soon start work on No One Killed Jessica, the story of the Jessica Lal murder and its aftermath.

Sush, SRK team up again

The film’s leading lady, Sushmita Sen, says DMG is a passionately told story and has a delightful plotline.

For her fans it is important because she teams up with Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan after their last superhit, Main Hoon Na.

It is now official that PVR has tied up to distribute the film through their network in Delhi, UP, East Punjab and Mysore. Morpheus Media Ventures.

The film’s presenters, and producer Viveck Vaswani are gung-ho about their PVR tie-up. And the film will have a colossal release in terms of prints across the globe.

The title track of DMG is already a hit this wedding season with baraats all over blasting it.

And for some live publicity action, on January 3, Fardeen will even dress in his bridegroom gear and drive in a chariot to a Mumbai mall to claim his bride, Isshita Sharma.

What’s more, Bollywood Hungama has registered more than 1,75,000 hits on Dulha Mil Gaya’s theatrical trailer (more than any other forthcoming film), in less than one month. “I’m elated,” says writer-director Mudassar Aziz, “We made this music and this film only to entertain our audiences, them enjoying it leaves me gratified.”

“It’s been a long but exhilarating journey. It’s been the best example of teamwork that I have ever seen. The unit stuck together through thick and thin. The scale of the film has to be seen to be believed,” said Viveck Vaswani, the producer.

Ranbir accepts single status

And finally now Ranbir Kapoor has accepted that he is single. Even though there are stories that he is dating Katrina Kaif now, even though there are stories about how.

Ranbir has managed to avoid answering queries in detail about his personal life, here's one that could put a lot of things to rest and it comes from Karan Johar.

A girl at a presser asked Ranbir Kapoor if he was single... and Ranbir blushed and replied... "If you are saying… yes…" Ranbir could not state his status clearly, but then Karan Johar took on the job.

"Yes Ranbir is single," he says nonchalantly.  But what exactly prompted Karan Johar to answer this query on his behalf.

While one does understand that it was Ranbir who has actually given the only hit that Karan Johar has had in 2009 in the form of Wake Up Sid, Karan also explains that he is Ranbir Kapoor's uncle.

"I consider Rishi Kapoor as my elder brother. And that makes Ranbir my nephew," says the filmmaker.
